Some Sites We Like

What do "staycation", "LBD", "hockey mom" and "bromance" have in common? They all made it into the New Oxford American Dictionary, 3rd edition published this year. Check out this link and see many more words as well as phrases like "the new black" and "what's not to like?" Makes for informative reading plus it's a lot of fun.

From the New York Times Magazine, an interesting graphic timeline of learning machines from the Horn-Book wooden paddle c.1650 to the 2010 iPad. Take a look and see if you recognize some of the "machines".

This is just one sample from Jane Austen's Persuassion that is now available to be viewed digitally as part of an on-going project of the Austen Fiction Manuscripts, a joint project of University of Oxford and Kings College London. Quite an impressive collection already with more to come.
